It’s week 2 of the $100 Room Challenge, and, as you may know, I’m working on the kids’ bathroom this time around. This week was all about paint. As you may recall from the before pictures, this bathroom started out with a sea foam greenish color. I never liked it much, so I was excited to paint over it. The room already looks so much better, at least I think it looks better; my daughter came home from school and melted into a puddle of tears when she saw it. She liked it better before. I’m sure this emotional breakdown had nothing to do with late nights over the weekend (wink, wink). This morning she announced that she now likes it because it looks a little purple. Oh what sleep can do for our mood. Am I right?
Here’s the bathroom in its current state. And yes, I cleaned it from top to bottom.
As you can see by the title, I also found something amazing…
I was scouring the internet in search of a window like this to use for the foundation of a DIY Towel Rack, but most were selling for about $40. Ummm… my $100 budget can’t afford that. A nurse I work with gave me the idea to check out a local “occasional” shop that just happened to be open last Thursday. I found this beauty for $15!!! This is the front side that will be displayed. The back side needs some work. The reason I can’t give it a perfect rating is because it’s painted with a lead based paint. Bummer. This just means I need to be very careful with the chipping paint on the back and seal it well. Luckily, my mother-in-law has volunteered to help me out, and she even has all the supplies we’ll need so I don’t have to buy anything (perfect for this girl’s limited budget.)
I cannot wait to show you my plans for this piece! I’m hoping to have it ready for next week’s update.
