Before I even start this post, I want to thank those of you that left comments and ideas last week. I have amazing readers with brilliant ideas! Thank you so much for sharing your creativity!
Just as a really brief recap, I am currently working on making over my kids’ bathroom for $100 or less. For last week’s introduction, you can go HERE, and you can read all about the $100 Room Challenge series HERE.
While I would love to show you a nicely painted bathroom, I can’t. Remember in week one, I talked about looking into getting some free paint from the Environmental Center? Well, that center isn’t actually open every day, so I just went today… and guess what? Unless I want a brown, pink, purple, or yellow bathroom, I was out of luck. In other words… I was out of luck. I went to Home Depot and purchased paint. Purchased. Spent money on. Used my budget for. Paint. On the up side, I think the color is going to look really good.
I am super, duper excited about my idea for a towel rack, but herein lies another problem. I need an old wood window to carry out my vision. There are several “occasional” shops near our house that may have just what I need, but being that they are occasional, most aren’t open until tomorrow. Therefore, Thursday will be spent window shopping. Literally. I did, however, buy these cute knobs that will be used for my towel rack.
Fingers crossed I can find the perfect window… otherwise, my husband volunteered to make one. Bless his heart.
I also bought a shower curtain. I don’t want to put it up until I’m done painting though, but here’s the idea:
Last thing I did was figure out an idea to help alleviate the counter clutter. (Are you noticing a theme? I’ve got a whole lot of ideas and no progress.)
tearing out gently removing the shiny chrome towel racks because they are cheap and falling apart (which I discovered this week) and I’m putting up this basket/towel rack combo. Hopefully. There may be a little outlet/light-switch placement problem. We’ll see. In the basket, I’m planning on putting some cups with each child’s toothbrush and toothpaste.
The Budget (So Far)
- 1 Gallon “White Metal” Paint by Behr: $26.48
- Paint Roller: $4.77
Shower Curtain: $11.24 (After using a 20% off coupon and applying my 5% Target Redcard Discount)
Knobs for the Towel Rack: $2.99 x 3= $8.97
Declutter Basket/Towel Rack: $14.99
Total Spent so far= $66.45… Yep. Not painting the vanity or medicine cabinet. The good news is I might be able to make some money by selling my current shower curtain and monkey/frog accessories. Anyone interested???
That’s it. My disappointing update for the week. I really, strongly believe I will have a beautiful gray bathroom to show off next week though.
On a complete side-note, how are you doing with Christmas shopping? I’m starting to panic. It’s been 45 degrees here in Minnesota, and no snow. It doesn’t feel like Christmas is mere days away, so I’m in denial that it’s fast approaching. I haven’t done any. Who’s with me?
Enjoy your evening!
