Are your kitchen utensils all shoved in a drawer, making it difficult to find everything you need? These are my utensil drawers prior to a little organization:
Of course, every good organization project starts by removing everything from whatever area you are trying to tidy up. I found some drawer liners at Target in their dollar section and started by putting those in.
I got these drawer bins at The Container Store, and just sorted by similar item for the first drawer. A little easier to find things now.
The second drawer holds longer items, so the little containers wouldn’t cut it. The divider I had was not working out well for the items either, so I found a divider at Target, and it suits my needs so much better.
I keep all my wooden spoons, spatulas, & whisks in a canister on my counter.
Ahhh… love organized drawers!
Since we’re talking about kitchen utensils I thought I’d also share a couple of my “must-haves” for the kitchen!
2- Mixing Bowls from Amazon- I just got these for Christmas and use them almost daily. They have a rubber bottom so it doesn’t slide all over the counter, and the pour spout makes it so easy to get batter or liquid out in a clean manner.
3- Silicone Kitchen Items from Amazon- I don’t own this exact set, but something very similar. They are so great for stirring things on the stove without scratching your pans.
4- Spice Rack from The Container Store- I used to house all my spices in a cupboard, but I could never really find what I needed. This is the perfect solution. I just keep it on a shelf in my pantry and the shelves pull out easily to display all my spices.
5- SilPat from Amazon- This is another item I just got for Christmas. It acts like parchment paper, but you can use it again and again. Very easy to clean as well.
6- Jar Opener from Amazon- I admit, I have a similar item that I got free, at a fair, but I use it all the time to open stubborn jars.
7- Kitchen Aid Mixer (you can get this at a lot of places- I found it to be best priced at Walmart and Amazon)- I used to knead pizza dough by hand, and while it was a great arm workout, I hated it! I use this stand mixer several times a week for kneading dough or baking cookies. It really is a must have!
8- Baskets to Hold Potatoes and Onions from The Container Store- And, yet another item I received for Christmas… Little baskets to house potatoes and onions in the pantry.
9- Wusthof Knife Set (These are available at many locations, all for about the same price)- My husband and I got a cheap knife set when we first got married. It was fine for a few years, but they were literally starting to fall apart. My parents gave us a new set of Wusthof knives and they have made a world of difference- just be careful for your fingers, these knives are sharp.
I hope you have found some ideas to help you with your own kitchen organization.
