It’s week two of the One Room Challenge, hosted by Calling It Home. This week has been more about collecting ideas than anything else… See, I actually need a buffet table first because its size will determine the chalkboard wall area and the shelving. I went on an online to hunt for ideas, but in the end, I found ana-white.com. Eeek… She has free building plans for dozens, if not hundreds, of projects… and I this is what I want…
Are you kidding me? Barn doors?! My thought is to paint it a deep gray with a hint of blue (vs. the white on Ana’s site). I showed my husband (because he’s my wood guy), and while I’m not sure he’s enthusiastically taking on this project, he’s willing to do it. (Must be love.)
So with our buffet plans in the works, I decided to look for some coffee quotes for the chalkboard wall. If you are following my “Coffee Station Inspiration” board on Pinterest… I’ve been pinning quotes like a crazy person. Here are some of my favorites!
Have we done one thing in the actual space? No. But we certainly are doing a great job brainstorming.
I’m off to buy some wood!
Your week looks much like mine did, Erin… and my week 3 doesn’t look much different! Planning is THE hard part! Love that buffet you chose… those doors are such a statement!! We’ve used Ana White’s plans before and loved them!! Good luck!!
Oh good. My week 3 is also looking a whole lot like week 2, although we (by we, I mean my husband) did make some amazing progress on the table, so we’ve got that going for us 🙂
Brainstorming totally counts as work! Love the plan you picked and love that your husband is taking it on for you! 🙂
Okay. Good. I needed to hear that. Sometimes I think the planning and brainstorming take WAY more time than the actual projects and putting things together.
LOVE that buffet! It’s going to turn out beautifully!
Thanks Crystal! My husband has been working on it all week, and he’s making some great progress. I’m pretty excited 🙂
I’ve always loved that buffet by Ana! It so eye-catching! I bet it’ll be gorgeous in your space!
I was so excited when I found those plans. We went out and bought all the wood last night, so we’re ready to go.
Great buffet to build, I love Anna’s design. I have made quite a few of her projects and they all turned out pretty good….It is so nice to see furniture painted in another color than white (says the one painted hers in white!)
Best of luck to your husband, it is going to be good!
I do love white, but my end vision is to do all my kitchen cabinets white and the island and buffet the dark gray. I think I need a little something to break up the white, and I love that dark gray I see in pictures… Thank you Pinterest.
Great choice. A dark blue gray sounds lovely.
I love the one you’re going to make more than the other options! It will look so pretty in a deep gray.
Thanks Sarah- Plan on buying our wood and getting started this weekend. God bless my husband who’s willing to run with my ideas 🙂
Love Ana White and what you picked!!! Gosh, can’t wait to see how this turns out!
Thanks Ashley! Hopefully we’ll make some progress this weekend 🙂
I love the white coffee station! I love anna white free plans, I hope your husband comes through lol
Maria
My hubby keeps asking about buying wood, so I think he’s in. Fingers crossed 🙂
Oh it’s beautiful! I like the “This house runs on love, laughter, and a whole lot of coffee.” quote. Maybe that’s just my house.
Oh no. Definitely not just your house. I’m a walking zombie without my coffee… a crabby, walking zombie at that 🙂
Buffet tables are the best! I bought mine 4 years ago and I’m constantly decorating around it. Any of the ones you featured would work great. Look forward to next week’s progress report 🙂
Love it. It will look fabulous!
Love the buffet by Ana White! She has amazing plans on her website! I really like the colors you are thinking for it too!
I think I’ll be searching her website a lot in the future. How can you not love free building plans?
Love it! I can “see” it in a deep gray with blue undertones. i am excited for you because I know it si going to be beautiful.
I’ve been looking at a whole lot of grays the past few days, as i try to decide on the perfect color for our powder room. Maybe this Sherwin Williams color is close to what you are looking for: SW 2739
Charcoal Blue. You can always have it mixed in a house brand at other stores. http://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW2739-charcoal-blue/#/2739/?s=coordinatingColors&p=PS0
Janis!!! I LOVE that color!!! Thank you, thank you! That is exactly what I’m looking for. I was kinda dreading figuring out the “right” gray. Of course, I’ll grab a few samples, just to make sure it looks right in the space (with the lighting and everything), but I will absolutely be grabbing Charcoal Blue! Again thank you for the suggestion.
My pleasure, Erin. As I said I have been looking at grays from everyone paint manufacturer you can think of! This is far too dark for my space, but I kept the paint chip for future projects because I love this color.
Whatever color you go with your room is going to be spectacular!
